VIDEO VOLUME BOOSTER

Make a video louder

Increase the volume of a video and download it. Only the sound is changed — measured, raised and limited so it cannot clip — while the picture is copied across exactly as it was. Everything runs in your browser; the video is never uploaded.

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Only the sound is changed; the picture is copied across untouched. Processed on your device — nothing is uploaded.

Why the picture does not change

Many online video volume boosters re-encode the whole file: the sound and the picture both go through a compressor again, and the picture comes out a little softer. This tool separates the two. The sound is decoded, made louder and encoded again; the video stream is copied straight into the new file without being touched. Same resolution, same frame rate, same pixels — and because the picture is not re-encoded, it is fast.

Normalise or boost?

Normalise measures the clip's loudness first and raises it to a target: Standard (−16 LUFS) is the usual level for online video and speech, Loud (−14) matches music and social platforms, and Extra loud (−11) is for clips that have to compete with a noisy room or a small phone speaker. A quiet clip gets a big lift; one that is already loud barely moves.

A fixed boost adds exactly the decibels you choose. Both run through a limiter, so the loudest moments are held just under the ceiling instead of crackling.

When louder is not enough

Gain raises everything in the recording, not just the voice. If the speaker was far from the microphone, the room and the hiss come up with them, and past a point more volume stops helping. A recording that already crackles on its loud parts was clipped when it was made, and no volume change repairs that. How to make a video louder covers those cases, plus the iMovie and ffmpeg routes.

Bass for phone speakers

A clip that sounds fine on headphones can sound thin and quiet on a phone, because small speakers barely reproduce anything under a few hundred hertz. A few decibels on the bass slider gives the low end more weight. Check how low your own speakers really go with the bass test before pushing it hard.

Just music?

For an audio file, make MP3 louder does the same job and gives you an MP3. And if you would rather not make new files at all, Volume Booster plays your music and audio files louder as they play, with a bass booster and 6-band equalizer — it is an audio player, so it does not open videos.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I make a video louder online?

Choose the video above. The tool measures how loud its sound is, raises it — normalised to a target loudness or by a fixed amount — with a limiter so it cannot clip, and hands back a new video. The picture is copied across untouched and nothing is uploaded.

Does making a video louder reduce the video quality?

No. Only the sound track is re-encoded. The video stream is copied packet for packet into the new file, so the picture is bit-for-bit what you started with — same resolution, same frame rate, no extra compression.

Is this video volume booster free?

Yes — no sign-up, no watermark and no length limit. The processing happens on your own device, so there is nothing for us to charge for.

Can I make a video louder on iPhone?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, choose the video from your Photos, and save the result back to Photos from the share sheet after downloading. Very long videos may run out of memory on a phone; for those, a computer is more reliable.

What video formats work?

MP4, MOV (including iPhone HEVC video), WebM and MKV. The file you get back is the same format you put in. If a file will not open, your browser probably cannot decode its audio codec — Chrome and Edge support the most.

Can I boost the bass in a video?

Yes. The bass slider adds up to 12 dB of low shelf at 100 Hz, before the limiter, so the low end gets heavier without clipping. It is the quickest fix for a clip that sounds thin on phone speakers.

Should I normalise or boost?

Normalise, for almost anything you will share. It measures the clip first and lifts it by exactly what it needs, so a quiet clip gets a big lift and an already-loud one barely changes. Use a fixed boost only when you know the number you want.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser reads the file, decodes and processes the sound, and writes the new file on your device. That keeps private videos private, and it means a large file does not have to upload first.
