Free volume booster app

Volume Booster is free to download and free to try. Before that, though — several of the most effective fixes for a quiet iPhone cost nothing and need no app at all. They are first on this page, because if one of them is your problem, you do not need us.

Free fixes, in order of how often they work

  1. Late Night EQ. Settings → Music → EQ → Late Night. It is a dynamic range compressor rather than a tone control: quiet passages come up toward the loud ones, which raises perceived loudness more than anything else on the phone.
  2. Sound Check off. Same screen. It normalises tracks by turning loud ones down and never turning quiet ones up, so with it on your ceiling is lower.
  3. Spotify → Playback → Volume level → Loud. The default is Normal. This is the single biggest change most Spotify listeners can make and almost nobody touches it.
  4. Clean the speaker grille. Pocket lint accumulates over months, gradually enough that you never notice the decline. A soft dry brush — not a pin, not compressed air.
  5. Check the audio route. Control Centre → make sure output is iPhone and not a Bluetooth speaker in another room.

The longer version, with the reasoning for each, is in how to make your iPhone louder. If nothing is coming out at all, volume not working on iPhone is the one you want instead.

What the app adds that those cannot

Every fix above recovers loudness that something was taking away. Only one thing actually adds level: processing the audio itself.

A podcast mastered 20 dB below commercial music stays quiet no matter how clean your grille is. That is where a booster earns its place — it applies gain, bass and a 6-band equalizer to the file it plays, so the recording comes out loud and intelligible.

And the honest boundary, the same one on every page here: it boosts what it plays. It cannot raise the iOS system volume or reach into Spotify, because no app on iPhone can. Here is why.

What "free" means here

  • Free to download and free to try — boost, bass and equalizer
  • No ads, at any tier. The subscription is what pays for that
  • No listening data sold. Your audio is processed on your device
  • After the trial, a subscription unlocks unlimited boosting and the full equalizer

A note on free browser extensions

If your search brought you here from a desktop: free volume booster extensions carry a risk phone apps largely do not. Because a tab-audio extension usually asks to read and change data on every site you visit, it is an attractive target. In 2026 Google removed several — with roughly 700,000 users between them — after researchers found them capable of downloading and running remote code.

App Store and Play Store apps are reviewed and sandboxed, which is a meaningfully different risk profile. If you do use an extension, look hard at the permissions it asks for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a free volume booster app for iPhone?

Plenty are free to download, ours included, and most work on a trial-then-subscription model. Before paying for any of them it is worth knowing that several of the most effective fixes for a quiet iPhone cost nothing at all — Late Night EQ, Sound Check and a clean speaker grille between them solve a lot of cases.

What is actually free?

Downloading and trying the app. After the trial, a subscription unlocks unlimited boosting and the full equalizer. There are no ads at any point and we do not sell listening data, which is what the subscription pays for.

Are free volume booster apps safe?

On the App Store the risk is mostly wasted time rather than harm, since apps are reviewed and sandboxed. Browser extensions are a different matter — Google removed several volume booster extensions with roughly 700,000 users between them after they were found able to run remote code.

Why do free volume boosters have bad reviews?

Usually because the listing promised something iOS does not permit. People install an app advertising a "200% system boost", open Spotify, hear no difference, and leave a one-star review. The app did not fail — it was never able to do that, and the listing implied otherwise.

What can I do for free right now?

Turn on Late Night EQ in Settings → Music → EQ, turn off Sound Check on the same screen, set Spotify's Playback → Volume level to Loud, and brush out the speaker grille. Those four take about two minutes and no download.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You can try the boost, the bass dial and the equalizer before deciding whether the subscription is worth it.
